MAN301R

Sidegrade: MAN 301 to MAN 301R

The sidegrade includes a new ITX board and SSD. We will check for proper operation and swap the audio section, power supply, and CD drive if necessary.

After the upgrade, the Roon UI will be used (you will need a Roon license). Plus, a web interface allows for

  • the preamp mode (DAC mode)
  • CD playback/ripping
  • streaming over UPnP or Airplay

The old MAN301 app is not supported anymore.

output level setting

The output voltage of our D/A Converters can be set in a few steps in the analog domain. This allows to set the output voltage such that the subsequent amplifier is properly driven.

This can be judged with the volume control potentiometer: The volume control should work in a decent range around the middle of the control range. For example, it should not be set to the start or the end of the control range to get proper loudness. So, choose the output voltage step, which allows for a “proper” volume control.

One must know that if the D/A Converter output level is too high, the amplifier input can be overloaded. The volume control in an amplifier is usually not located right at its input but somewhere in the signal path. So, the input amplifier can be overloaded even when the volume control is put down.

one Roon license – multiple playback devices

It is possible to use the same Roon license at different places. When logging in, disable the other playback station which is not in use. There aren’t two licenses needed as long as only one playback station at a time is in use.

Web Interface: unable to reach

Please check if the MAN301R unit is connected to the Router via the Ethernet connection at the MAN301R.

We expect users to access the web interface with the URL, for example: http://man301r-YourSerialnumber.local, and not through the IP address, which is harder to remember and might change over time.

ripping: files aren’t saved on drive

See the note on page 5 of the manual regarding the supported formats on the USB drive.

It says: Supported file systems are FAT32, exFAT, NTFS, and ext2/3/4.
